GTA 6 PC Requirements: Is Your PC Ready for 2027?

Short answer: Rockstar hasn't announced GTA 6 for PC or posted official requirements. A GamesBeat report points to a PC release in the first three months of 2027. Going by the console hardware, plan for a current 6- to 8-core CPU, 16GB of RAM or more, an RTX 5060-class GPU for 1080p and a fast NVMe SSD.

Grand Theft Auto VI lands on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. If you play on PC, the wait might be a lot shorter than it was for GTA V.

Here's where the PC version stands, what to expect from the GTA 6 system requirements and the PC we'd plan around at 1080p, 1440p and 4K. We'll update this post when Rockstar publishes its own spec sheet.

When is GTA 6 coming to PC?

There's no official date yet. Here's what we know:

  • The report: on October 13, 2026, GamesBeat reported that Rockstar plans to release the PC version within the first three months of 2027, citing four industry sources familiar with the plans.
  • Rockstar: didn't comment on the report.
  • Take-Two: its release list for the fiscal year to March 31, 2027 still shows GTA 6 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.

So treat early 2027 as a strong report rather than a confirmed date. If it holds, PC players get a far shorter wait than they had for GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2.

Game Console launch PC launch Wait
Grand Theft Auto V September 2013 April 2015 About 19 months
Red Dead Redemption 2 October 2018 November 2019 About a year
Grand Theft Auto VI November 19, 2026 Early 2027 (reported) About 2-4 months

Has Rockstar released GTA 6 system requirements?

No. Every GTA 6 spec list you'll find online is an estimate, ours included.

What we can do is work from two things that are known: the console hardware Rockstar built the game for and the way Rockstar has set PC requirements in the past.

How has Rockstar set PC requirements before?

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the closest example, since its PC version arrived about a year after the console launch. This is what Rockstar asked for in 2019:

Minimum Recommended
CPU Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-6300 Intel Core i7-4770K or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB or AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB
RAM 8GB 12GB
Storage 150GB 150GB

What that tells us about how Rockstar works:

  • A forgiving minimum. Both minimum CPUs were years old by 2019.
  • A realistic recommended tier, built around a popular mid-range card of the day.
  • A big install. 150GB was a lot for its time.
  • Current PC features. GTA V Enhanced arrived on PC in March 2025 with ray tracing, DLSS 3, FSR 3 and DirectStorage for faster loading from an SSD.

What PC do you need to run GTA 6?

These are our planning targets, built from the console hardware and Rockstar's track record. They're not Rockstar's numbers, but they're what we'd build around today.

Each tier lines up with NZXT Player PCs you can get right now.

1080p 1440p 4K
CPU Current 6-core, like the Core i5-14400F or Ryzen 5 9600X 8 cores or more, like the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus or Ryzen 9 9900X Ryzen 7 9800X3D or Ryzen 9 9950X3D
GPU GeForce RTX 5060 or RTX 5060 Ti (8GB) GeForce RTX 5070 (12GB) or RTX 5070 Ti (16GB) GeForce RTX 5080 (16GB) or RTX 5090 (32GB)
RAM 16GB DDR5 32GB DDR5 32GB-64GB DDR5
Storage 1TB NVMe SSD 2TB NVMe SSD 4TB NVMe SSD

Which PC parts matter most for GTA 6?

CPU

Reports say the console versions are targeting 30fps and analysts point to the processor as the limit. On PC, the CPU decides how far past 30fps you can go.

  • 6 cores is a sensible floor. Today's desktop chips are far quicker per core than the Zen 2 cores in the consoles.
  • 8 cores gives a world this busy room to breathe.
  • AMD X3D chips, like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D in Player Three, carry extra cache that tends to help most in CPU-heavy games.

GPU and VRAM

Resolution and texture quality lean on your graphics card's memory (VRAM):

  • 1080p: 8GB is the usual fit.
  • 1440p: 12GB or more for high textures.
  • 4K: 16GB is where we'd start.

GeForce RTX 50 Series cards also bring DLSS 4. Rockstar's latest PC release shipped with DLSS, so it's a good bet here too.

Weighing a card swap instead of a new PC? Our guide to choosing a graphics card upgrade walks through it.

RAM

The consoles share 16GB between the system and graphics. On a PC, graphics gets its own VRAM, so:

  • 16GB of system RAM is the floor.
  • 32GB is the comfortable number if you keep Discord, a browser or a stream running while you play.

Our guide to how much RAM you need has more.

Storage

Rockstar hasn't confirmed an install size. Red Dead Redemption 2 asked for 150GB on PC back in 2019 and GTA 6's world is bigger, so plan on:

  • 1TB NVMe SSD at minimum.
  • 2TB if you want room for the rest of your library.

Already short on space? Here's how to add storage to your PC.

Windows

Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, so Windows 11 is the safe bet for a 2027 release. Every Player PC ships with Windows 11.

Should you upgrade now or wait for the official specs?

  • Already at the 1440p tier above? You can wait for Rockstar's list.
  • On an older quad-core CPU or a graphics card with 6GB of VRAM or less? It's worth planning now, since the reported window is only a few months after the console launch.

Not ready for a full purchase? NZXT Flex gets you a gaming PC month-to-month, with free repairs and a full refresh at or before two years.

That way you're on current hardware when GTA 6 arrives and for whatever comes after it.

Frequently asked questions

Will GTA 6 be on PC at launch?

No. GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Rockstar hasn't announced a PC version yet. The latest report points to early 2027.

Will GTA 6 run at 60fps on PC?

Rockstar hasn't said. Its PC versions of GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both run above 30fps on capable hardware, so with a strong enough CPU, PC is the likeliest place to play GTA 6 above 30fps.

Is 16GB of RAM enough for GTA 6?

It should be enough to play, since the consoles run the whole game in 16GB of shared memory. 32GB gives you headroom for higher settings and for apps running in the background.

How much storage will GTA 6 need on PC?

There's no official number yet. Red Dead Redemption 2 needed 150GB on PC, so set aside at least that much on an NVMe SSD and expect GTA 6 to ask for more.

Will GTA 6 support DLSS on PC?

It isn't confirmed. Rockstar's most recent PC release, GTA V Enhanced, launched with DLSS 3 and FSR 3, which is a good sign for GTA 6.

Can I play GTA 6 on PC through Xbox Cloud Gaming?

Rockstar hasn't announced cloud play for GTA 6 on PC. For now the only confirmed ways to play are a PS5 or an Xbox Series X|S.
