Performance Tips
While we offer several PCs to suit your needs when playing Star Wars: Outlaws, you may need some advice or tips on how to get the game running smoothly on your current system or your new NZXT PC. We have compiled some performance help below:
► Unless you have one of the best GPUs around (RTX 4080/4090), you need to disable NVIDIA’s Raytraced Direct Illumination. This third-party feature exclusive to PCs offers incredibly detailed raytraced lighting and shadows but at a massive cost. Without frame generation and a powerful GPU, even cards like the RTX 3080 will dip into the low 20s above 1080p.
► Raytracing is built into Massive’s utilization of the Snowdrop engine, as they did with their previous work, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Star Wars: Outlaws was built from the ground up with raytracing, and certain areas and visual effects wouldn’t work without it. As such, raytracing in Star Wars: Outlaws can be set to low but never fully turned off. Cities like the one on Mirogana rely almost entirely on indirect lighting as they are obscured in shadow, something that regular rasterized lighting could never convincingly pull off.
â–º The base requirements for Star Wars: Outlaws are higher than most titles, and running the game smoothly can be challenging on older GPUs. Lowering raytracing settings overall will significantly improve performance.
â–º Use one of the available upscalers, like DLSS or FSR. If you have a card with frame generation available, that provides more options to improve performance across the board.
â–º Take your time and familiarize yourself with the settings menu and all the possibilities; Star Wars: Outlaws has a robust suite of tools to configure gameplay, performance, accessibility, and more.
Don’t miss out on everything Star Wars: Outlaws has to offer, and make sure to get the most out of your experience with these performance tips or PC recommendations. NVIDIA provides copies of Star Wars: Outlaws with qualifying purchases of their GPUs during their current promotion, so if you want to upgrade your video card, you have the option. Whether you go with our prebuilt PCs or just want to refine your existing setup, Star Wars: Outlaws will immerse you in a galaxy far, far away.
